Eden Park poem

Dunedin Charitable poet John Richard Bryan dedicates his spare time to raising money for worthy causes and has kindly donated a series of poems relating to rugby to the Maroon Foundation Charitable Trust.

Enjoyment filled with pleasure when coming to this ground
and all those fans who gather will never be let down

Delight it gives them plenty – for adults, girls, and boys
you see it in their faces from that total look of joy

Excitement filled with drama when watching all those games
this park that sets a standard and how you love our name

Nobody does it better and you have our guarantee
the public leave ecstatic, as thrilled as they can be

Perfection in a venue that nowhere else can beat
and when you come to visit you get an awesome treat

Amazing is the word of choice our patrons like to say
and you can come here often both in those nights and days

Respect is earned not given and how we set the mark
as AUCKLAND is the city and our ground is EDEN PARK

Keeping up that standard our nation does expect
and if you have not been here you know you should be next

As seeing is believing, that’s the truth and not a lie
so come here to our venue, the finest money buys

New Zealand is our country and two islands form our name and you
know in your heart of hearts you are so glad you came

So spread the word about us and cheer our name about
and do not be embarrassed if you all yell and shout

Our ground cannot be bettered that we call EDEN PARK
