Wellington Phoenix fixtures confirmed for Eden Park

Oct 25, 2022

The Wellington Phoenix will return to Eden Park for two matches in 2023.

The men’s round 20 and 24 Isuzu UTE A-League matches will be played at Aotearoa’s national stadium in March and April.

The Nix will play host to Sydney FC at Eden Park on Sunday, March 12 before returning to Auckland five weeks later to play Brisbane Roar on Sunday, April 16.

Both matches will kick-off at the family-friendly time of 3pm, as is the case with all of the men’s home fixtures this season.

Phoenix general manager David Dome is delighted the club is able to return to Eden Park.

“We have great support in Auckland and it’s fantastic we are able to reward our fans up north by bringing the men back to Eden Park for two matches this season.

“A number of our commercial partners, including Spark and OPPO, are Auckland-based as well so it’s important for the club to play matches in the 09 when we can.

“Stadium availability is at a premium this summer so it’s awesome Nick Sautner and his Eden Park team have been able to accommodate us.”

The April 16 fixture against Brisbane was originally scheduled to be played at Sky Stadium, which will now host a couple of previously ‘to be confirmed’ matches.

The men’s round 13 match against Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, January 22 and the round 18 fixture against Newcastle Jets on Saturday, March 4 will both be played in the capital. They will be double-headers with the Phoenix women, who will play Canberra United and Brisbane Roar respectively in Liberty A-League matches.

The club are still yet to find a venue for the men’s round 14 match against Perth Glory on Sunday, January 28, with a number of the country’s stadiums unavailable.

There also remains one ‘to be confirmed’ venue in the women’s home season on Saturday, February 25. The club is close to confirming the round 15 match against Sydney FC will be played in Auckland that weekend.

The Phoenix women’s kick-off times for their double-headers have also been adjusted slightly.
