As the festive season swiftly approaches, New Zealand’s national stadium is preparing to transform Eden Park into a nine-hole golf course for the annual Powerade G9.
This year marks the fourth innovative golf experience where players have the rare opportunity to tee off from some of the highest stands of one of the world’s most revered stadiums.
The Powerade G9 will be played from 2-6 December and offers the perfect Christmas work party or festive celebration with loved ones, or mates. Earlybird adult tickets are now available for $69 per adult, while regular tickets are $79 per adult and $59 per child.
A prize pool valued at more than $50,000 is up for grabs which includes the coveted yellow jacket plus Eden Park memberships and corporate suite experiences for the overall individual and team winners. However, the most alluring prize is a whopping $500,000 cash thanks to Donaldson Brown. This can be won by landing a shot in the birdie zone on the Donaldson Brown hole and then returning on Sunday to score a hole-in-one and win half a million dollars cash.
Last year $250,000 was offered by the Kiwi firm for a hole-in-one which saw more than 10 players shoot out for cash. Donaldson Brown says the play was so epic in 2019 that they had to double the cash for this year’s tournament.
“As New Zealand’s largest independent insurance & risk advisory we are thrilled to be supporting New Zealand’s national stadium in what is always an amazing event that’s back and bigger than ever. We wish everyone the best of luck when tackling this year’s hole-in-one challenge, so come down and have a crack as we would love nothing more than seeing you take away $500,000,” says Donaldson Brown Founding Partner Alex Brown.
Players can increase their chances of success with a golden ball, which can be purchased and used as a second attempt on four of the holes to better their score. They also have the chance to make a bonus putt in the home team changing room.
Eden Park says in a year that has provided unprecedented challenges it looks forward to offering another memorable way to come together and enjoy sport and entertainment rolled into one.
“We’re looking forward to hosting another unforgettable Powerade G9 tournament that will provide some much-needed relief for golf enthusiasts, friends, whānau and colleagues. Given its timing this year, it’s a perfect chance for businesses to celebrate the end of a challengingnyear with some light-hearted fun. The G9 has become an annual feature of our event calendar and along with Staydium Glamping, our upcoming Sky Sport Rooftop Tour and regular stadium tours, showcasing the diverse experiences available at Eden Park,” says Chief Executive Officer Nick Sautner.
“COVID-19 has seen our community asset utilised for a range of alternate and unique purposes this year, and the Powerade G9 is another example of how the Park can offer new experiences and serve the local and wider community,” adds Sautner.
The winning score last year was 24, six under par.
