P!NK, an iconic artist makes history at Eden Park, a globally recognised iconic venue
Mar 10, 2024Global pop sensation Pink has made history this weekend at the spiritual home of All Blacks, turning the iconic venue pink for two unforgettable nights.
Hosting over 100,000 fans has not only broken attendance records at the iconic stadium for an artist but P!NK is the first female headline artist to grace the iconic venue in its 120-year history.
Known for her powerhouse vocals, dynamic stage presence, and chart-topping hits, P!NK delivered an unparalleled experience with fans coming from across New Zealand and beyond. The impact of her performances echoed far beyond the stadium, marking a milestone and underlining the transformative power of live music.
Eden Park CEO Nick Sautner said, “The passion and excitement about P!NK coming to Eden Park during the weekend and in the days leading up to the concert was unparalleled.
“Not only do events like P!NK’s Summer Carnival Tour, which was brought to New Zealand by Live Nation, provide an unforgettable spectacle for fans, they showcase Auckland as a vibrant city.
“Beyond the social impact, the economic benefit to our local businesses and city that comes from hosting the two P!NK concerts is expected to be substantial. From increased domestic tourism and hospitality to the jobs created for more than 2,000 people who work at each concert and the increased business opportunities, the financial benefits of hosting a global superstar like P!NK are widespread.
Eden Park is renowned for hosting international sporting, cultural, and music events, including three Women’s World Cups in the past 24 months.
Mr Sautner adds, “P!NK’s performances are fresh on the back of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, RWC 2021 (played in 2022), and the Women’s Cricket World Cup. We are a proud New Zealand icon that celebrates equality and inclusion through actions and events.
“We are committed to attracting more international artists to New Zealand and building on our reputation as a world-class entertainment venue. Collaborations with iconic artists like P!NK undoubtedly contribute to our community and country. The weekend’s performances marked a milestone in the history of both P!NK and Eden Park, leaving a legacy for everyone fortunate enough to be a part of it,” said Mr Sautner.
Eden Park commissioned local artist, Marcus Watson, to paint a street art mural to help commemorate this occasion and the legacy it will create for the thousands of fans, our community and city.
