Eden Park Named Official Closing and Volunteer Function Partner of the Rainbow Games Tamaki Makaurau Auckland 2024

Rainbow Games 2024 is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Eden Park, one of New Zealand’s most iconic sporting venues, as the Official Closing and Volunteer Function Partner for the inaugural edition of the multisport Games – which will take place on the evening of Monday 8 April 2024.

The collaboration between Rainbow Games and Eden Park marks a significant moment in the history of rainbow sports inclusion and celebration in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Set to take place in the World Cup Lounge, against the backdrop of this historic stadium, the Rainbow Games will offer participants and volunteers an unparalleled opportunity to commemorate the culmination of this momentous event in style.

“We are incredibly excited by this opportunity for our participants to socialise, reflect and celebrate the inaugural Games, standing in a spot which has witnessed several moments of sporting history, from the All Blacks winning the 2011 World Cup, to the more recent Women’s Rugby and Football World Cup tournaments”, says Event Director, Tom Leonard.

Eden Park, known globally for its legendary sporting events, is honoured to be part of the Rainbow Games journey. As the venue for the Games’ closing ceremony and volunteer function, Eden Park is proud to play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of community and belonging among participants and volunteers.

The Rainbow Games Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024, scheduled from Thursday 4 – Monday 8 April 2024 features over 10 sports and offers a vibrant programme of arts and cultural events, alongside a rainbow Rangatahi legacy programme aimed at increasing sporting opportunities for rainbow youth.
