Billy Joel – 3 December: your transport options

Map to help you when leaving Eden Park after the concert
Gates for the Billy Joel concert will open at 5pm. We recommend that you aim to be seated by 7pm.
With a huge crowd expected for Billy Joel’s one-night-only New Zealand concert, please plan ahead and know what transport options are available to get to and from the concert at Eden Park.
Auckland’s rail network will be closed so that KiwiRail and City Rail Link can carry out important rail improvement work. This means trains will not be operating on 3 December, however there are a number of other ways to get to Eden Park for the concert.
Whether you jump on board the special event buses, use the free park and ride or park and walk services, get dropped off or share a cab, to avoid the rush make sure you get to the stadium early – we recommend that you aim to be seated by 7pm.
Here’s how you can get to and from Eden Park on 3 December:
Buses
Scheduled Bus Services:
Travel on all scheduled bus services is included with your concert ticket from 12pm until the end of service that day. Simply show your concert ticket when you board. Go to AT.govt.nz/journey planner or use the AT Mobile app to plan your journey in advance.
Rail Replacement Buses:
Rail replacement buses will operate hourly for people who would normally travel on the Western line.
These will leave from the following locations:
- Dominion Rd: Bus stop # 8410 – corner of Dominion and Valley Rd
- St Lukes Rd: Bus stop # 7999 – corner of St Lukes and Sandringham Rd
Special Event Buses:
We will be operating special event buses to and from Eden Park before and after the concert. Please see the downloadable map for the exact locations of the buses after the concert.

Park and Ride
If you are catching one of our free special event buses to Eden Park, free parking is available from 3pm on Saturday at Alexandra Park, or at one of ten city centre locations.
Carpark spaces are limited and will be available on a first come first served basis.
Here’s what you need to know:
Alexandra Park Raceway
You can access the Alexandra Park carpark via two entrances:
- Campbell Crescent (off Manukau Road)
- Greenlane West.
Once you’ve parked, you can catch one of the free special event buses to Eden Park.
City Centre Carparks
Free parking is available at the carparks below. Car park spaces are limited and will be available on a first come first served basis. Once you have parked, special event buses will leave from 120 Quay Street (corner of Gore Street & Quay Street).

Park and Walk
Westfield St Lukes
Free parking will be available on the rooftop (Level 3) carpark of Westfield St Lukes from 6pm onwards. It’s an easy 17 minute walk to get to Eden Park. This can be accessed via Exeter Street.
Eden Park has a residential parking permit program in place for large events. Neighbourhood and street parking are by permit only. If you’re planning to park on the street, please be prepared to park slightly further away and walk the rest of the distance.
Walking Routes
We expect the roads will be busy, so we recommend walking if you live close by. Avoid the traffic and get those steps in. Here are our suggested walking routes:

Taxi’s, Rideshares & Private Drop off/Pick up
Eventgoers using rideshare or taxi services can be dropped off and picked up at any of the four dedicated locations below. These locations are highlighted on the downloadable map.
Drivers will not be able to get closer to Eden Park due to the road closures which are in place for the concert.
Each location is approximately a 5-10 min walk from Eden Park.
