Park Life
Location: Reception stairwell, Gate G, levels 1–4

‘Park Life’ is a mural conceptualised and illustrated by artist Liam Downes, and later actualised by Liam along with Paul Walsh and Joel Nicholls of the MTA Collective.
The mural was commissioned by Eden Park to capture the unique energy a crowd brings to an occasion, a merger of the spirit of fandom with national and international friends of the Park.
Stretching across multiple floors, the image begins at the foyer entrance, where eagle-eyed observers may recognise a number of Kiwi legends; from Jonah to Taka, Dame Kiri to Sir Edmund. The first two levels are a celebration of some of our best known New Zealanders.
The middle section pays tribute to the Park staff, the people who help to turn the dreams and the memories into reality. They wave us onwards and upwards to the top tier, where we are greeted by giant letters, proudly held aloft and spelling out EDEN PARK. The Eden Park sign is one of many banners dispersed through the crowd, all resonating with the Park’s values and core; Culture, Sport, Music, Art and Community. The top floor is adorned by the Park’s first international performers, as Ed Sheeran, P!nk, Travis Scott and Billy Joel taking centre stage. It’s just the beginning…
“To combine forces with the team at Eden Park has been a genuine honour and a privilege. To work on this feel-good and expressive piece, on such a gigantic scale – it is more than a photo, it is bigger than a crowd. ‘Park Life’ is a celebration of the people.”
