Eden Park will make rugby league history on Wednesday 16 June 2027 when it hosts Game 2 of the Ampol State of Origin series, the first time in history a match between the New South Wales Blues and Queensland Maroons has been played in New Zealand.
The Origin fixture will be the centerpiece of a major week of rugby league in Auckland, with the Warriors also confirmed to play at Eden Park on Sunday 13 June.
Eden Park Chief Executive Nick Sautner said “State of Origin is one of the biggest events in Australasian sport and belongs on the biggest stage. On 16 June 2027, Eden Park will be that stage, with our national stadium becoming the home of rugby league in New Zealand.
“With the Warriors on Sunday and State of Origin on Wednesday, we want the stadium and precinct alive with fans, activity and entertainment, building to what will be an extraordinary night for rugby league.
“We are planning a programme of special events across Eden Park throughout the week, including activating the Outer Oval, providing fans more reasons to come and be part of the build up to State of Origin – not simply arriving for kick-off on Wednesday night.
“I have always said people arrive as ticketholders and leave as tourists. We’re expecting thousands of supporters to travel from across Australia, the Pacific and New Zealand for State of Origin, and we want them staying longer, supporting our hotels, restaurants and businesses and experiencing more of Auckland.
“This is an opportunity to do much more than host a rugby league match – it is an opportunity for Eden Park to help deliver a week that showcases Auckland and New Zealand to the world,” said Mr Sautner.

For fans who are travelling, official NRL travel and hospitality packages are available from today, bringing together match tickets, travel and accommodation for their Auckland stay.
