The weekend will start early with The Weeknd performing at Eden Park

Diamond certified and international award-winning artist, Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd is bringing his highly successful After Hours til Dawn Tour to NZ – taking to the stage at Eden Park on Thursday 7 December.

Nick Sautner, Eden Park CEO “The Weeknd has sold out stadiums around the world, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to Eden Park for his New Zealand show.

“This will be an amazing concert and a massive coup for Auckland and New Zealand. The Weeknd is one of the biggest pop and R&B artists on the planet, and we’d encourage fans to get their tickets early so they don’t miss out,” said Mr Sautner.

The tour celebrates The Weeknd’s 2020 album After Hours (it’s hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”), as well as his critically acclaimed album Dawn FM, which was released January 2022.

Sautner notes how the FIFA tournament showcased the social benefits that come from attending live events and the substantial economic uplift that the community, city, and country, derives from hosting events and concerts at Eden Park.

“The whole city was thriving and  feedback from local businesses in the Kingsland and Dominion Road districts during the FIFA tournament was incredibly positive, with most bars and restaurants packed even on a weeknight.

“The Weeknd’s upcoming Thursday night performance will also be great for these businesses, with concert-goers expected to enjoy the area’s hospitality before and after the event.

“We’re delighted to be hosting some of the greatest artists of our time at Eden Park. Our Park’s seating capacity, transport connectivity, proximity to the city and facilities that cater to all demographics make us the promoters’ venue of choice in New Zealand, said Mr Sautner.
