Te Matatini 2021

Te Matatini Herenga Waka, Herenga Tangata will be held at Eden Park, Auckland from 23-27 February 2020. The name for the National Kapa Haka festival was recently unveiled and portrays the intent of the Tāmaki Makaurau Host Committee.

The pōwhiri for the National Festival will be held on Tuesday 23 February, with the first of three days of the Pool Competition to start on Wednesday 24 February. Te Matangirua, the Competition Finals will be held on Saturday 27 February 2021.

Kapa Haka will still compete across three pools; Te Ihu, Te Haumi and Te Kei however, in 2021 pools will be lateral across the first three days of the National Festival. The Pool Competition days will commence at a later start time of 10:00am. Te Matangirua will commence at 8:40am as per previous Festivals.

Te Matatini Herenga Waka, Herenga Tangata will also see four Kapa Haka from each Pool progress to Te Matangirua.
